When Niche Communications decided to move to larger premises in Wokingham, they appointed DMA to form a new print room with air conditioning and a mezzanine floor for storage to utilise the headroom available.
The mezzanine floor columns were carefully designed to take into account the positioning of two large Xerox printers that would be located below the mezzanine. Fire protection was added to the underside comprising of a one-hour fire rated suspended ceiling and a one-hour steel casings with a white plastisol finish to the mezzanine support columns. A perimeter wall was then constructed from steel stud partitioning to form the print room area with access via a double door set.
The print room area under the mezzanine needed to maintain a constant temperature as well as ventilation to comply with the manufacturer’s guidelines. The constant temperature was provided by three Mitsubishi 12.5kw ceiling cassettes with wall mounted touch screen multi controllers. The ventilation system was supplied to meet manufacturer’s specifications, with two fresh air supplies to compensate for the exhaust air system from the printers.
In addition to the print area works, DMA also made alterations to the ground and first floor partitioning, providing the client with office and meeting room layouts to suit their requirements.
DMA project managed our warehouse refurbishment; we started the work with an empty shell and by the end we had a purpose built print room with a mezzanine level, air conditioned and fitted out with full electric specifications. As a business we had no knowledge of how to approach a project like this but DMA walked us through the process offering us options and fully explaining each stage. Although we are not planning on moving again for a while, I would certainly be contacting DMA again if we require additional work to be carried out.
